Black cats aren't bad luck. Fortunately though they are in the minority and very few can resist the beauty and charm of a black kitty. This fear of black cats appears to stem from medieval times when an animal with dark feathers or fur including crows and ravens signaled death. Our lives are forced to revolve around them as each day we house them feed them and clean up their messes from fur balls to litter boxes.

Ironically since black cats are such good night hunters killing them may have made rodent-transmitted diseases like the Bubonic Plague much more deadly. In England King Charles I had a prized black cat that he swore brought him good luck.
